Situated in the heart of Kentucky and driven by our mission to earn the trust of Pet Lovers everywhere, our award-winning DogStar Kitchen meets the strictest standards with ingredient suppliers approved by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

We prepare ORIJEN and ACANA exclusively. That means we don’t make foods for other companies and we don’t allow our foods to be made by anyone else. We wouldn’t have it any other way and believe you wouldn’t either.

To retain their natural goodness, we steam-cook our fresh meat ingredients at a low temperature (200°F) in their own natural juices, without adding any water. Most conventional pet foods utilize highly processed commodity ingredients, such as powdered meat, that are low-cost, easily transported, and stored for months on end. Unlike steam-cooking fresh ingredients, dried and powdered ingredients require large amounts of water to be added before cooking.

Many pet food brands are actually owned by marketing companies who outsource their food production to third-party factories. How can you tell the difference?

• Pet Food Marketer: the package says “made for”, “produced for”, distributed by”, “distributed under licence by”, or “private label”.
• Pet Food Maker: the package says “made by” or “produced by”.
